NCCB Charity Presentation

Norwich City Concert Band, known more affectionately around Norfolk as NCCB, has always been committed to supporting and raising money for worthy causes in the region. Indeed, it has had enormous success with this, having raised a total of over £5,000 for seven different local, national and international charities over the last 10 years.

This year the band raised an unprecedented £800 for its chosen charity: The Nancy Oldfield Trust, based at Neatishead, near Norwich.

The trust provides residential and day adventure activities for people experiencing either temporary or permanent physical, mental or emotional difficulties.  The activities on offer include sailing, canoeing, motor boating, fishing and bird watching, all of which are available to anyone living anywhere in the country but are used extensively by local people in need.

The band really believed this to be a valuable cause as it evidently provides a variety of benefits to those who are able use it.  This includes the attainment of new skills, the opportunity to socialise with a different mix of people and a break for both the individual and their carers from ‘normal’ everyday activities and routines.

It perhaps seemed fitting that after such a successful year, the presentation took place in glorious sunshine at the trust’s centre on 22nd April. The photo shows the band’s Chairperson Jamie Durrance and Musical Director Brian Dermott presenting the cheque for £800 to Robin Slatter and other members of the team.
